Delivery Partners

In April 2006 the Sector Skills Service and Jobcentre Plus in Hampshire & IOW entered into a service level agreement so all JCP Advisers can refer people to the Sector Skills Service.

Through JCP Adviser referrals clients are offered more comprehensive information on various sectors of industry. Other benefits include work experience opportunities and qualifications. The Sector Skills Service can be used by everyone, regardless of benefit status, and is immediately available to people whether they have only been registered with JCP for one day or have been long term unemployed. JCP Advisers can also refer people returning to work after illness, single parents, and employed people.

The Sector Skills Service has a dedicated Liaison Officer visiting on a weekly basis the below listed Jobcentre Plus offices:

  • JCP Havant
  • JCP Cosham
  • JCP Portsmouth
  • JCP Fareham
  • JCP Gosport
  • JCP Petersfield

At all other times and at all other JCP office throughout Hampshire a JCP Adviser will be pleased to refer you to one of the Sector Skills Service Advisors or you can telephone 0845 644 1312.

Part of VT Group plc

The Sector Skills Service is pleased to partner with VT Enterprise Limited part of VT Group plc in the delivery of the nextstep service. The nextstep service is a free service funded by the Learning Skills Council.

The Nextstep delivery team can refer their clients to the Sector Skills Service for appropriate learning, training workshops and work experience opportunities.

nextstep service for Hampshire & IOW provides free, impartial, and confidential advice on learning, training, or work to adults:
- aged 20 or more
- aged 18 or 19, who have been referred to nextstep by the Jobcentre

nextstep can help people who want to:

  • go back to work after a break
  • update their skills
  • improve their work prospects, or
  • change direction in their job

Experienced Advisors will work with clients individually and base their advice on what’s best for the client.

As well as discussing choices, Advisors can also give information about help that is available, including funding, childcare, and support for people with disabilities.

Both the Sector Skills Service and the nextstep service share the same aim of preparing the clients to achieve an outcome of gaining employment.

   
Reach Out

The Sector Skills Service is pleased to partner with VT Southern Careers Limited part of VT Group plc in the delivery of the Reach Out service.

The Reach Out delivery team can refer their clients to the Sector Skills Service for appropriate learning, training workshops and work experience opportunities.

Reach Out is an innovative service for Hampshire& Isle of Wight provided by VT Southern Careers Limited, and its partners. The Reach Out service is funded by the Department of Works and Pensions through the European Social Fund.

The service is designed to help the unemployed, lone parents, those with disability or health related issues, the over fifties and those from an ethnic minority.

Individuals will be allocated a Key Worker who will work closely with the client for up to 40 weeks to help improve skills through learning with the aim of the client finding sustained employment.

Through working alongside clients, the Key Workers for Reach Out will help clients to prepare to take up opportunities for personal development through learning.

When the client is ready to look for work the Key Worker will arrange for the client to attend at the Sector Skills Service for learning, training workshops and work experience opportunities.

Both the Sector Skills Service and the Reach Out service share the same aim of preparing the client to achieve an outcome of gaining employment.
